In Inglese non esistono le preposizioni articolate:. At the station In the office On the desk

FORMA At Si usa in relazione ad un luogo inteso come punto di riferimento (compresi punti specifici della strada, numeri civici…). In alcune espressioni non si usa l'articolo (home, work) At the station / airport / bus stop At the doctor's / dentist's / barber's At the football match/ party/ meeting At the crossroads/ end of street At the 10, Downing Street At home / At work

In Si usa in relazione a luoghi intesi come aree o volumi; luoghi circoscritti e chiusi; delimitati fisicamente o concettualmente: stanze, locali, vie, piazze (senza riferimenti al numero civico), città, nazioni, continenti. In alcune espressioni non si usa l'articolo (bed, hospital, prison) In the sea / lake / river In the kitchen / bedroom / living room In England / in Boston In the Beker Street / Trafalgar Square In the park / garden In bed / in hospital / in prison

On Si usa in relazione ad un luogo inteso come superficie. Si usa inoltre per indicare il lato destro ed il lato sinistro. Near = Vicino, nei pressi The hotel is near the city centre L'hotel è vicino il centro

In front of = Davanti (opposto: behind) There's a park in front of the cottage C'è un parco davanti al villino

Behind = Dietro (opposto: in front of) There's a tennis court behind the hotel C'è un campo da tennis dietro l'hotel

Opposite = Di fronte The car park is opposite the hotel Il parcheggio è di fronte all'hotel

Between = Tra, fra (due entità) There's a golf course between the hotel and the river C'è un golf fra l'hotel ed il fiume

In the middle = Nel mezzo In the middle of the room Nel mezzo della stanza

Among = Tra, fra (più entità) There's a nice cottage among the trees C'è un bel villino fra gli alberi

Outside = Fuori, all'esterno (opposto: inside) An eagle is flying over us Un'aquila sta volando sopra di noi

Inside = Dentro, all'interno (opposto: outside) The swimming pool is inside the hotel La piscina è all'interno
